When To Get My Sliding Door Repaired?

Smooth Sliders

Sliding doors provide a great view of the outdoors and add a delightful ambiance to a home, and therefore must be repaired often. Many homeowners in Palm Beach County have them installed in their homes.

Sliding doors come in various shapes and sizes, ranging from the standard glass doors that lead out to a patio door to mirror sliding closet doors in bedrooms and versatile screen doors that frequently accompany their glass counterparts. Each entry functions similarly but has unique factors that influence how and why you use them.

When Should You Repair Sliding Doors?

Sliding doors will eventually need repairing due to various issues such as damaged rollers, broken locks, house shifting, bent tracks, and more.

Since sliding doors are typically used frequently, this contributes to wear and tear on them, causing problems with functioning correctly.

To fix the problem, let’s understand why and when to call sliding glass door repair experts near me in FL, such as Smooth Sliders Inc, to correct the problem.

Damage In The Rollers

The rollers of a sliding door are the core elements that allow them to slide along the track. They will wear down over time due to the damage of continuous usage.

When attempting to slide the door back and forth, a sign of damaged rollers can be noticed when it feels abnormally heavy. Dirt, pebbles, leaves, and other objects can severely damage a roller and sometimes even break them completely.

Rust from water and moisture is another common problem that plagues rollers, causing them to stop working entirely.

In this case, sliding door repair or replacing in Palm Beach County is the best option because rusted rollers cannot be fixed, and even lubricating them does not solve the problem.

Sliding door repair by a comprehensively skilled specialist in Palm Beach, FL is the best way to repair any roller damage.

The Sagging House

Everyone learns about our planet’s evolving nature that people face such as volcanoes, earthquakes, and various other types of landscapes. This has a significant impact on our buildings, as earthquakes and erosion cause our structures to shift slightly over time.

A house built on the edge of a cliff or soft soil will be affected by moving earth; often, this goes unnoticed, or people are unaware of the significant impact on their sliding doors.

This gradually affects sliding doors; the frame and other door parts may also shift. This will cause the door to line up incorrectly, making sliding difficult.

Finally, it contributes to a track that becomes bent out of shape. A common issue that results from this is a gap in the door, which can exist along the top or bottom or where the door closes.

This severe problem requires immediate attention from a sliding door repair specialist near me in Palm Beach, FL.

Broken Handle & Damaged Locks

Sometimes the door slides smoothly, but the handle has cracked, or the lock no longer works. You will have to fix these problems as soon as possible because, without a handle, the door can be challenging to operate.

High levels of stress and improper handling of the door, which will induce further water damage and moisture propagation, can cause rust in sliding glass door locks and be the common cause of lock seizing and malfunctioning.

The sliding glass door locks or handles, like rollers and tracks, come in various forms, and determining which ones work is difficult. For this analysis, our sliding glass door repair specialists in Palm Beach County can assist you with this.

When handles and locks don’t work correctly, it can be hard to tell whether the lock is simply broken. Not to mention, a broken lock can pose a security risk!

Some information about Palm Beach, FL

Palm Beach is an incorporated town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. Located on an island in east-central Palm Beach County, the town is separated from several nearby cities including West Palm Beach and Lake Worth Beach by the Intracoastal Waterway to its west, though Palm Beach borders a small section of the latter and South Palm Beach at its southern boundaries. As of 2010 census, Palm Beach had a year-round population of 8,348 and an estimated population of 8,816 in 2019, increasing by around 25,000 people between November and April.

Native Americans previously inhabited the island of Palm Beach, with the Jaegas arriving at least 3,000 years ago. Evidence for their inhabitation of the island are three pre-Columbian archaeological complexes. These complexes include a burial mound, six unmarked Native American cemeteries, and a more recent burial site which suggested interaction between indigenous people and Europeans.

White settlers began arriving in modern-day Palm Beach by 1872. Hiram F. Hammon made the first homestead claim in 1873 along Lake Worth. At the time, the lake area had fewer than 12 people. By 1877, the Tustenegee Post Office was established in modern-day Palm Beach, becoming the lake area’s first post office. Along the coast of Palm Beach, the Providencia wrecked in 1878 with a cargo of 20,000 coconuts, which were quickly planted. In 1880, Elisha Newton ‘Cap’ Dimick converted his private residence to a hotel known as the Cocoanut Grove House. At the time of its opening, the Cocoanut Grove House was the only hotel along Florida’s east coast between Titusville and Key West. A fire destroyed the hotel in October 1893. The Star Route, also known as the Barefoot Mailman route, began serving the area in 1885. Carriers delivered mail by foot or boat from Palm Beach and other nearby communities to as far south as Miami, a round trip of 136 miles (219 km). The first schoolhouse in southeast Florida (also known as the Little Red Schoolhouse) opened in Palm Beach in 1886.

Henry Flagler, a Standard Oil tycoon, made his first visit to Palm Beach in 1893, and described the area as a ‘veritable paradise’. That same year, Flagler hired George W. Potter to plot 48 blocks for West Palm Beach, a city to house workers at his hotels, and construction began on the Royal Poinciana Hotel. The Royal Poinciana Hotel opened for business on February 11, 1894. Flagler, also the owner of the Florida East Coast Railway, extended the railroad southward to West Palm Beach by the following month. In 1896, Flagler opened a second hotel originally known as Wayside Inn, before being renamed Palm Beach Inn, and later becoming The Breakers. Fires later burned down the hotel in 1903 and 1925, but it was rebuilt twice. The Palm Beach Daily News began publication in 1897 originally under the name Daily Lake Worth News.
